As with most jobs, ongoing training and Continued Professional Development (CPD) is essential. This is no different for Foster Parents who, whether single or a couple, must complete training to ensure the safe care of a child or young person placed with them.
TRUE Fostercare has a varied and interesting training programme delivered in a variety of ways and we ensure that you are supported at all times.
All applicants to become a Foster Parent complete the TRUE Fostercare ‘Introduction to Fostering’ training course which is personalised for you at the start of your assessment.
Once registered Foster Parents will have an Induction and are introduced to the Training, Support and Development (TSD) Standards for Foster Parents. The TSD is an evidence based course completed in the first year of registration supported by their visiting Social Worker.
Foster Parents who have progressed will be offered other courses such as the Diploma 3 for Children and Young People Workforce.
